For ease of navigation, repair procedures are divided into Categories and Types. This approach guides the user from general to more specific search terms, ultimately arriving at specific repair procedure options.

Automotive parts and systems are first organized into categories. The below list is organized with Quick Start items first, then the Vehicle Areas categories sorted front to back.
Category Description Position Statements Includes OEM position statements and documents produced by the OEM. These statements give general guidance which applies across the OEM’s lineup. General | Safety Includes general hazards and precautions or safety information that belongs to more than one specific group. Airbags | Restraints (SRS) Includes airbags, seatbelts and related sensors, as well as modules. ADAS Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) includes systems such as parking sensors, blind spot detection, cruise control, lane departure assist, parallel park assist, backup cameras, etc. Accessories Includes vehicle parts, optional systems or accessory systems. Includes systems such as horn, clock, interior lights, alarm, keyless entry, police options, power memory, remote control, trailer lights, etc.
Note: Check accessories for smaller items or other parts that can't be found.Front Bumper | Grille Includes the front bumper and grille as well as ADAS sensors or elements physically located in the front bumper and grille. Front Lamps Includes headlights, fog lamps, front turn signals, daytime running lamps, headlamp control, and auto level. Cooling Includes radiator, engine cooling, transmission cooling, and oil cooling. Does not include air conditioning, which can be found in Heating /Air Conditioning. Heating | Air Conditioning Includes A/C condenser, compressor, heat exchanger, climate control, rear climate control, ducting and vents. Fenders Includes exterior body panel, fender and trim components, and any electrical elements attached to the fender. Front Structure Includes unibody structure components and bolt-on front structure components, such as radiator support, frame rails, aprons, and strut towers. Front Suspension Includes front suspension components such as struts, control arms, brakes, hubs, sensors, tires, wheels, and alignment.
Note: Wheels and tires--which do not have their own group--can be found here.Steering Includes steering wheel, steering column, steering rack/gear, steering components, and electrical components physically located on the steering wheel. Braking Includes brake control, anti-lock braking systems, traction control, parking brake, electric brake control systems, and brake components. Hood Includes hood, hood struts, hinges, and attached items, such as windshield washer nozzles (if located on the hood) and attached lights. Engine Includes engine external and internal, intake, management, and maintenance. Transmission Includes transmission and transfer case. Drivelines | Axles Includes axles, driveshafts, propeller shafts, half shafts, differentials, and differential carriers. Electrical Includes electrical systems, starting, charging, networking, modules, ECUs, and circuits.
Note: This group does not include all electrical items.Exhaust Includes exhaust pipes and manifolds. Windshield | Cowl Includes windshield, windshield wiper and washer components, ADAS components attached to windshield, sensors, trim, cowl, and windshield heating if applicable. Dashboard | Consoles Includes dashboard, center console, overhead console, gauges and controls. Seats Includes seats, rear seats, and seatbelts. Front Doors Includes front door trim, hardware, locks, glass, sectioning, alignment, speakers, any ADAS components in the door, and related calibrations. Rear Doors Includes rear door trim, hardware, locks, glass, sectioning, alignment, speakers, any ADAS components in the door, and related calibrations. Van Side Doors Includes van side door trim, hardware, locks, glass, sectioning, alignment, ADAS in the door, and calibrations. Pillars | Rockers | Floor Includes pillar rocker and front floor (floor in passenger compartment), sectioning, and trim. Note: Not found in Truck Vehicles, see Truck Cab. Truck Cab Includes truck cab body procedures, sectioning, sheet metal repairs, trim, ADAS, or infotainment components physically located in the truck cab. Roof Includes roof components and attached trim and electronics. Back Glass Includes rear glass operations, defogger, and third brake light (if applicable). (Only for vehicles without lift gate.) Truck Bed Includes truck bed and truck side bed. Quarter Panels Includes quarter panel sectioning, trim, glass, inner structure, and ADAS, or infotainment components. Van Sides Includes van side panels, trim, body procedures, sectioning, sheet metal repairs, glass (if applicable), and ADAS, or infotainment components physically located on the van side. Fuel Includes fuel tank, hoses and other fuel systems not attached to the engine or engine control. Rear Suspension Includes rear suspension components, such as struts, control arms, brakes, axels, hubs, sensors, tires, wheels, alignment.
Note: This is where to find wheels and tires, which do not have their own group.Rear Structure Includes rear body, trunk floor, rear frame rails, rear parcel shelf area, and back door openings reinforcements for SUVs or vans. Liftgate Includes lift gate components such as trim, hardware, glass, locks, alignment, calibrations ADAS, or infotainment components physically located in the liftgate. Tailgate Includes tailgate trim, hardware, locks, alignment, calibrations, lights, spoilers, and any ADAS components physically located in the tailgate. Trunk Lid Includes trunk lid trim, hardware, glass, locks, alignment, spoilers, calibrations, and any ADAS components physically located in the trunk lid. Cargo Doors Includes van rear door trim, hardware, locks, glass, sectioning, alignment, speakers, any ADAS in the door, and their calibrations. Rear Lamps Includes rear lamps, stop lamps, turn lamps, backup lamps, third brake light, and license lights. Rear Bumper Includes rear bumper trim, spoilers, ADAS sensors / radars, trailer hitches. High Voltage Electrical Includes high voltage battery, wiring, and converters. Electric Drivetrain Includes electric drive motors or transmissions.

Type Name Description Position Statement OEM statements declare their position(s) on collision repair and parts replacement. (This usually applies to all of the OEM's models.) Removal | Installation Procedures detailing how to remove a part from a vehicle and how to re-install it. Welded Panel Replacement | Sectioning Procedures outlining welded panel replacement or cutting and joining.
Note: Users often look for sectioning procedures in Removal / Installation first.Disassemble | Reassemble Procedures outlining how to disassemble parts once removed from a vehicle, and how to reassemble them. Calibrations | Initializations Procedures detailing calibrations/initializations of various systems. Inspections Procedures outlining how to perform inspections on various parts of a vehicle. Adjustments | Alignment Procedures including specifications for adjustments and alignment of various body panels. (Can also be tire alignment.) Schematics Diagrams or overviews of systems/components. Specifications Details stipulating torque, capacity, alignment specs, quantity of vehicle components. Hazards | Precautions Safety procedures to be referenced before a repair. Corrosion Protection Procedures for application and location of corrosion protectant/seam sealer. Diagnostic Procedures related to diagnosing issues, troubleshooting problems, symptom checking. Wiring Diagrams Procedures containing wiring diagrams, or just wiring diagrams. Additional Operations Procedures which are required or in addendum to other defined types. Basic Introductory information on reading and using procedures, such as “How to Use this Manual,” introductions for abbreviations, glossary of terms, generic VIN information, and symbol glossaries. Repair Procedures directed at repairing components removed from a vehicle (i.e. repair front bumper, repair door, etc.). Tools | Equipment Procedures relating to special tools, equipment to be used in vehicle repairs. Drain | Refill Procedures including instructions on how to drain and fill various components of the vehicle (i.e., engine, radiator, transmission, differential, etc.). Maintenance Procedures outlining upkeep of the systems in a vehicle.
