This article covers how to filter, sort, and download data within Insights, and how to use each of the four reports:
For an overview of what's included in Insights and who has access, see Getting Started with RepairLogic Insights.
Opening Insights
- Click Insights in the top navigation bar.
- Use the tab bar to move between the four reports: Usage Summary, Location Adoption & Usage, Team Activity, and Vehicle Repair Plan.
Using Common Report Controls
Most controls in Insights work the same way across all four reports. You can filter, sort, view metric definitions, download, or reset any report.
Filtering by Month and Location
Filter options depend on your account type.
Notes:
- If you run a single shop, you only have a Month-Year dropdown. There's no location filter, since you have only one location.
- If you're on an MSO (multi-shop organization) account, you have both a Month-Year dropdown and a location filter.
- Once you set a filter, it carries over as you move between report tabs, until you change it again.
To change the month:
- Click the Month-Year dropdown (calendar icon). It defaults to the current month.
- Select the month you want.
To change which locations display (MSO accounts only):
- Click the Locations filter. A drop-down lists your locations, with each one checked by default.
- Check or uncheck any location to include or exclude it from the report.
- Click Apply. The filter updates to show the selected location names, and the selection applies across every report you click through until you change it again.
Note: The Usage Summary report uses a Month / Quarter / Year toggle instead of the Month-Year dropdown. See Using the Usage Summary Report below.
Sorting Report Columns
All columns across Location Adoption & Usage, Team Activity, and Vehicle Repair Plan are sortable.
- Click a column header to sort by that column.
- Click the same column header again to reverse the sort direction.
Note: Sort by one column at a time.
Viewing Metric Definitions
Every metric column has an info icon next to its name.
- Hover the info icon (
) next to any metric name.
- A one-sentence definition of that metric displays.
Downloading a Report
Every report has a Download button in the top right, labeled with the report name.
- Apply any filters needed to narrow the report to what you want to export.
- Click Download [Report Name] report (e.g. Download Location Adoption & Usage report).
The download exports exactly what you're currently viewing, as an Excel file, using the same filters you've applied.
Clearing Filters
A Clear Filters link appears whenever any filter differs from its default state.
- Click Clear Filters.
- Both filters reset to their default state.
Using the Usage Summary Report
If you're an Owner or General Manager, this report shows how adoption is trending across your whole organization over time.
The report opens with a line chart at the top tracking two metrics over time:
- Research Rate (green): the percentage of Repair Plans where OEM procedures were researched before the repair.
- Activity Rate (blue): the percentage of active locations creating Repair Plans in the period.
Below the chart, a metrics table shows the full set of metrics for your organization, with one column per period. The most recent period shows green ↗ or red ↘ trend indicators next to each value. These indicators reflect the change versus the prior period.
To explore the chart and change the time period shown:
- Hover any data point on the chart to see both rates for that period. You'll also see the change versus the prior period.
- Use the Month, Quarter, or Year toggle to change the time period shown.
- Use the left and right navigation arrows to move to earlier or later periods.
Note: If you run a single shop, some metrics won't appear.
Using the Location Adoption & Usage Report
This report looks different depending on your account type. Locations only apply to MSO (multi-shop organization) accounts, so this report compares all your locations if you run an MSO, or shows a single-location snapshot if you run one shop.
Locations with a notable drop in activity are flagged directly in this report. See Responding to Low Usage Notifications below for details.
Click an option below to learn more:
-
If you're on a single-shop account, this report gives you a snapshot of your location's Repair Plan activity and research behavior for the selected month.
Metrics display as tiles rather than a table:
- Repair Plans Created
- Avg. Procedures per Plan
- Avg. Sub-Procedures per Plan
- Avg. Calibration Procedures per Plan
- Plans not Researched
- Plans Researched
- Avg Single-Use Parts per Plan
- Research Rate
Each tile shows a short definition, the current value, and the percent change versus the prior period.
Note: There is no location filter on this report, since a single-shop account has only one location.
-
If you're an Owner or General Manager running an MSO, this report lets you compare all your locations at once. You can see which locations are performing well and which need attention, without needing to ask each shop for an update.
All your locations display in rows, sorted by Repair Plans Created (highest first) by default. The Location column stays fixed as you scroll right through the remaining columns.
To view details for a specific location:
- Click any location name. A prompt opens asking whether you want to view Team Activity or Vehicle Repair Plans for that location.
- Select View Team Activity or View Repair Plans. The selected report opens automatically set to the same month. The location filter defaults to all locations selected. Change it if you want to narrow the view to just that location.
- Click any location name. A prompt opens asking whether you want to view Team Activity or Vehicle Repair Plans for that location.
Using the Team Activity Report
If you're a Manager responsible for a single location, this report shows who on your team is engaging with the platform. It also highlights who might need support adopting it.
Everyone on your team displays for the selected location and month. Rows sort by Repair Plans Created by default. Use the Month and Location filters to change what displays.
Using the Vehicle Repair Plan Report
If you're a Production Manager enforcing research before repairs, this report gives you plan-by-plan visibility into exactly which vehicles have been researched and which haven't. You can catch gaps before a repair starts, rather than after.
Every Repair Plan created at the selected location and month displays. Rows sort by Plan Created Date, with the newest first.
Responding to Low Usage Notifications
Shops that consistently research OEM procedures before every repair see better repair accuracy and fewer comebacks. When a location shows a significant decline in Repair Plan activity, two indicators appear:
- A dismissible yellow banner appears at the top of every report. It lists the affected locations by name, with a message encouraging your team to re-engage.
- On the Location Adoption & Usage report, each affected location also shows an orange Low Usage icon in the Location column. Hover over the icon to see the full message.
Note: Notifications are dismissed per session. Dismissing the banner on one report tab keeps it dismissed across all four tabs until your next visit. Your OEC Customer Success contact may also follow up directly if the decline continues. For more on how notifications work, see RepairLogic Insights: Frequently Asked Questions.
